A couple of interesting “big picture” tree news items, both of them from Science Daily website:
- on the up side: scientists now estimate there are around 3 trillion trees on earth, up to 7.5X how many were sometimes believed to be.
- on the down side: humans have now eradicated half of the earth’s trees.
All the more reason to sustainably manage what we have, and private woodlot owners like BGWA members can make a difference in the world!

Great information Neil! It is sometimes hard to know how our small pieces fit into the big puzzle. It is the accumulation of the small things though that make a big difference, and that is what our organization is up to
