BGWA Board Members Kevin Predon and Scott McGregor put together a great event this past Saturday, helping members understand the basics of conifer plantation management, including analysis of density and ways to estimate tree height. One of the mandates in BGWA’s vision statement is education, and we are excited to offer members a tree marking workshop the afternoon of Saturday, November 2nd. You will gain introductory experience in tree marking for quality timber, undesirable/ defective trees, wildlife habitat, natural tree regeneration, protection of unique landscape features and bio-diversity. It’s our unique twist on “BnB” 🙂 This year, our annual Members’ BBQ event will feature a local woodland-theme bus excursion (9AM-1PM) preceding the traditional lunch and social gathering (1PM-3PM). That’s pretty great in itself, but even better is that there will be no additional cost to members riding the bus tour. The BBQ will once again take place at Grey-Sauble Conservation Aboretum just south of Owen Sound. Details and registration coming in a few days. Plan to be there Saturday, Sept.7th, for a delightful and interesting day!
