Join Beth Gilhespie, author of the Walking Through Time series of geology books, for a walk at Boyd’s Crevices, just east of Owen Sound. Beth will discuss the ancient tropical seas that formed the rock layers and the forces today that continue to shape the Niagara Escarpment.
When: Sunday April 26 at 1 PM
Where: Boyd’s Crevices – Bruce Trail (Concession 10 south of Highway 26)
Directions: From Owen Sound head east on Highway 26 to Concession 10. Turn right (south) past Sideroad 15 to the parking area on the right (west) of the road.
From Grey Road 18 east from Rockford, turn left (north) onto Concession 10, go past Story Book Park Road and to the parking area on the left (west) of the road. The parking area is located at 44.553805, -80.890079.
Duration/Length: ~2 hrs / ~3 km
Pace / Difficulty: very leisurely pace along a section of the Bruce Trail. There is a short stairway / ladder, some rough terrain and possibly muddy sections.
What to wear/bring: Wear hiking boots, appropriate clothing, water, snacks. Hiking poles can be helpful. Also bring your curiosity and questions.
