Geology Hike – Woodford Loop (Bruce Trail)

Join Carol Mullin and explore the fascinating geology of this section of the Bruce Trail. This loop hike will feature a geological pothole/kiln, fossils, deep crevices, a rich forest of towering trees and the remains of an original homestead and barn. Learn about the formation of the Niagara Escarpment and its many layers, formed 400 to 450 million years ago.

When: Saturday October 11 at 9:45 AM

Where: Meet and park at the Woodford Community Centre. Please park behind the building. The hike will start from here.

Directions: Heading east on Highway 26 from Owen Sound to Woodford, turn left (north) onto Woodford Crescent to the Community Centre (107 Woodford Crescent) (44.593656, -80.744459)

Duration/Length: ~2.5 hrs / ~3.5 km

Difficulty: easy/medium with some short steeper sections.

What to wear/bring: Wear hiking boots, appropriate clothing, water, snacks. Hiking poles can be helpful. Also bring your curiosity and questions.
